The Verse Vibes Were Immaculate.

We’re talking champagne, we’re talking stylish clothing, and most importantly, we’re talking crypto and art on the blockchain! All in the heart of the poshest neighborhood in Manhattan: Soho! The Violet Verse and Veronica Beard aimed to please as they hosted, “Women in Web3: Building on the Blockchain.” Attendees noted the Violet Verse and Veronica Beard partnership was unique from any other event at NFT NYC week because of its intimate and collaborative setting.

Founders, technologists, and NFT creators all gathered to discuss the future of technology, the power artists can wield in a decentralized realm, and how to carve career paths into the space as if creating the Venus de Milo. In addition to delicious conversation and cocktails, those present also received a special POAP NFT in partnership with The Clinic and Des Femmes Magazine; as well as 20 percent of shopping proceeds were donated to shopping for a cause.

Art, the Blockchain, and Crypto

At the helm of the conversation and champagne was Mel Henderson, founder of The Violet Verse. Founder of VV Melissa Henderson hosted a panel including Julia Pepper, Media Strategist Forefront and Gitcoin and Tam Gryn, Art Curator Showfields and BanklessDAO. To say these two leaders were impressive was an understatement.

They spoke about their experiences with blockchain technology, what they see as its limitations, and how it can be used to create positive change in our world.

Check this out: meet Tam Gryn.

While she calls herself an art curator, Gryn is an artist in her own right in the NFT space. The goal is to create new cultural and economic infrastructures at the intersection of art and other industries such as crypto.

And she’s not just building systems. Gryn is publishing a book educating artists how to harness their power on the blockchain. Sure both of these panelists are humble AF but if Gryn is the Michaelangelo of building artists’ rights on the blockchain, then consider Julia Pepper like the Leonardo Da Vinci of Web3 content publishing.

Julia Pepper has only been in the game for five months.

This New York University student is already creating the blueprints for the creators’ network in Web3. Currently, Pepper is working as a contributing media strategist @Forefront_ and @Github. They are laying the blocks for success for content creators across the space. Sure, Da Vinci defined gravity, but one could argue the communities that Pepper is a part of like DREAM DAO. DREAM DAO aims, "to invest in the future of the web3 x social impact ecosystem, by providing Gen Zers with the training, funding, and community they need to leverage the power of web3 to secure a brighter future for humanity." Spaces like DREAM DAO and Gryn’s Bankless DAO are grounding opportunities for folks entering the space to succeed.

Both Gryn and Pepper agreed, when it comes to creating a valuable future in Web3, the best approach is to follow your heart. Gryn educated those present to look out for the difference between investors and collectors. She explained that investors are passionate about the game, while collectors are passionate about community. To understand the difference is crucial for anyone beginning to invest in cryptocurrency. Pepper concurred, and mentioned newbies on the blockchain should follow their interests, especially when it comes to the DAO communities.

The biggest takeaway? We can build a new system for art on the blockchain.

Finding a valuable path on the blockchain comes down to this: invest in what you believe in. Web3 is an opportunity for artists unlike any other. Gryn and Pepper are examples of the potential anyone can achieve in Web3.

The current fiat system artists work within is clearly not working. Content creation is fundamental to culture and the Web1 and 2. However, there is a considerable lack of respect and reward for these contributions to society. In the Violet Verse we want you to take solace in that there are people like Gryn and Pepper; developing an inclusive and lush environment to nurture everyone’s community.
