Are we witnessing tech and jewelry merge?

Maggi Simpkin, a seasoned connoisseur of stunning jewelry displays, boasts a resumé that includes the listing of a million-dollar ring at Sotheby’s, as detailed in a report by JCK Online. Continuing her narrative of design excellence, Simpkin has once again captured attention with her latest creation: an interpretation of Bose headphones into new ear cuffs.

In the ongoing competition between Bose and Apple, the former is making bold strides. Simpkins' custom pair of 14k yellow gold Bose Ultra Open Earbuds showcases the convergence of fashion and technology, a realm she is renowned for mastering. Not to mention, the arrangement of diamonds are chef's kiss gorgeous.

Bose is coming for Apple's fashion girlies.

According to the Bose product site, these earbuds ($299) offer breakthrough spatialized audio, promising a more immersive listening experience that transcends conventional boundaries. With world-class noise cancellation and personalized sound optimization, coupled with a design that prioritizes comfort, Bose aims to redefine the auditory landscape.

Sharing her excitement on Instagram, the designer unveiled her collaboration with Bose, showcasing the custom earbuds worn by the radiant Kenzie at the Billboard Women In Music red carpet event. Simpkins' post included a montage of photos, featuring sketches of her fashion-tech design, the elegant model adorned with the creation, and detailed shots of the product itself.

“So excited to finally share these custom earbuds I created in collaboration with @bose for the @billboard Women In Music red carpet- worn by the beautiful @kenzie,” the designer wrote on her personal Instagram page.

She posted a montage of photos, including sketches of her fashion tech design, the beautiful model who got to wear it during the Billboard Women in Music awards, as well as closer looks at the product.

“I replaced the original plate with a solid gold plate and designed diamond clusters inspired by some of my favorite signature motifs.”

Simpkins' ingenuity shines through in her customization of the earbuds, where she replaced the original plate with one crafted from solid gold, adorned with diamond clusters inspired by her signature motifs. The result is a blend of sophistication and innovation, elevating the earbuds beyond mere accessories to coveted fashion statements.

New versions of the earbuds could include interchangeable magnetic designs, similar to how Apple's earpods opened up a custom product for retail designers can remix.

Looking ahead, what would really enhance the earbuds is a magnetic feature enabling interchangeable jewelry to be seamlessly incorporated. This design aesthetic could allow wearers to tailor their accessories to match their outfit’s aesthetic. This concept not only enhances the functionality of the earbuds but also introduces a new dimension of versatility and personalization.
